GOING BACK MEMORY LANE IN YOUR MARRIAGE

I trust we are all having a great mid week, may God cause our paths to be blessed plus shine brighter and brighter this season in Jesus name amen.

With my seven years wedding anniversary, came thoughts of how far my dear husband and i have come in this divine institution called marriage... i remember the first time, he came visiting me in Benin city where i grew up, i had to give him transport fare back home...lol, we still laugh about it till today. I remember his proposal, how he had to borrow his Boss's car to take me out to the beach for a date and while we were on our way to the beach, he outlined where he was going in life and asked me if i see myself in the picture..what a proposal! lol, though he later got on his knees at the beach, for me, the real proposal was our talk and the picture he painted.

I remember with joy, how we use to celebrate our anniversary every 14th of the month, ( we got married on the 14th of June) our dates together was so much fun, we talked plus appraised our relationship and then end up with our special session, where we tell ourselves five things we love about each other plus want to see continue and five things we do not like and will want to see changed. This was always a time for truth talk; saying things the way they really are, that and so many little things, we do for each have been part of what has made my marriage very interesting. Mind you, we have had our challenges, but we have always been advocates for advance forgiveness, so we always ended up attacking the event that is a challenge and not the person or ourselves..well, i do attack his person sometimes...hahahahaha, that's when i want to fight unfair! (Its not a good way to fight, always attack the event and not the person, that's how to fight fair).

Honestly, we are not where we want to be in our marriage relationship but we are not where we used to be, we have grown together, depending on God and ourselves to move forward in all areas of our lives. We so look forward to the days and years ahead and we trust the God that we serve who is able to do exceedingly abundantly more than we can ever think or ask of Him to take us to His intended destination for us.

My aim of sharing this is for us all to take a look at our own marriage and appreciate where we are all coming from and how faithful God has been..God is worthy to be praised in our lives indeed!

Do you know...We are meant to communicate, cooperate, plus complement each other in our marriages and not compete ? Lets invest our time, self, money to make our marriages another Garden of Eden on earth.

Prayer point..Lord, i thank you for my spouse or my future spouse, thank you for how far you have brought us and thank you for where you are taking us to. Help us to love each other unconditionally and submit ourselves one to another in Jesus name amen. Pray Proverbs 5 - 18 - 19 now and always.

Action point - Take your spouse out on a well deserved date and just talk about why you love him/her plus try the five things session; say the five things you love about him/her, that you want to see continue and five things, you think he/she should improve on or change...do it this way..you say the first thing, you love and she says hers and then you say what you do not like and she says hers... (my husband is fond of cheating on this as i do most of the talking saying all my five without him completing his!), lol!

Note - Thanks to all those sending comments on facebook and yahoo to encourage me, God bless you all. A dear mentor of mine sent a message and i was overjoyed, because when those you respect start saying you are a blessing to your generation, then that means you are doing something right! lol.
